Please Can I Talk To a Human???

Many thanks to George Orwell FB

The Internet Paradox, and its implications for Universal Credit.

Put simply UC could not work if it wasn’t for the internet. The fact is Humans are more intelligent, after all, Humans invented the computer and internet. Yet computers are far faster at processing data than we Humans, as such this technology is being used to run rings around us. To achieve the level of state interference that we have come to would have been impossible before the internet. Can you imagine how the job centre would have coped without this technology, if we all (some 8 million of us, on UC) piled into the jobcentres daily?.

Here is some of the maths:
At the moment, there are “officially” 1.9 million unemployed, but we all know there is more since those sanctioned or on workfare are not counted.
(Incidentally, the official unemployment figures will be easily manipulated under UC by definition).

UC will have 8 million claimants approximately at any one time.
There are 750 jobcentres.
There are 78’000 JCP staff, they will be reduced to 71’000 (this assumes they are all full time, which they are not) staff according to the PCS union.

This equates to 10’666 UC claimants for every JCP, if that was spread over a “once every 2 week attendance” (10 days actual), that would be 1066 people per day per jobcentre.

By the same rule, there would be 95 staff members in each JCP. Therefore each JCP staff member would have to see 12 clients per day.
All perfectly doable.

However, they are considering daily sign in. That would see 10666 claimant descend on each jobcentre, and each advisor would have to deal with 112 claimants per day. This would mean each claimant would get 3 minutes with their advisor. Not exactly possible.

Earlier, I asked, how many “public access computers” were in the JCP’s. Answers varied from 1 to 20, so lets say an average of 10. Consider that some people who are on current benefits have no internet access or skill to use them. I speak of those who claim one or more of WTC, CTC, HB, and IS. They are not under conditionality. However, they will be under UC, and there only way to access the internet would be in the JCP (and possibly the library), who is going to help them?, and how many will there be?.

The internet has made us as a society more insular in all sorts of ways, I mean, I talk to people on the other side of the planet, on here, yet I don’t know my neighbours names.

If the government go ahead with this daily signing thing (and do look out for those 3ins by 6ins pads on there desks), one thing is for certain, thousands of us will be in the same “overly oppressed” boat, and the upside here is we will see each other face to face. All we would have to do is talk face to face, you know, how it used to be.

Who knows what will happen if we begin to unite face to face, without Big Brother watching you via the internet.

  1. 8 million people on Universal Credit

UNIVERSAL CREDIT REPLACES ALL OTHER BENEFITS

Universal Credit is gradually replacing Employment and Support Allowance, Housing Benefit, working tax credits and a number of other benefits. Just when Nil State Pension hits.

    NIL STATE PENSION

Low paid workers can be below the Lower Earnings Level, which means they are not receiving automatic National Insurance credits (too low waged to pay contributions).

This means they are out of the welfare state and will not gain a state pension.

The flat rate state pensions grants nil state pension for less than 10 years National Insurance history. Now you only need 1 year NI history onwards to gain any state pension.

UNIVERSAL CREDIT AND INCOME BASED EMPLOYMENT AND SUPPORT ALLOWANCE

Income-based ESA (but not contribution-based ESA) will move to Universal Credit.

The claims process will be the same one used for ESA.

Under Universal Credit each household will make a claim,
    rather than each individual.

It’s one payment, paid monthly and based on all your household’s circumstances.

    PERMANENT SANCTIONS UNDER UNIVERSAL CREDIT

Those on UC will face permanent sanctions because Hardship payments will become recoverable loans, directly from benefits,
through court imposed debt recovery and

    attachment of earned income.

    UNIVERSAL CREDIT SANCTIONS HOUSING BENEFIT

Housing Benefit sanctions under Universal Credit (Housing Costs Element)

No longer will Housing Benefit be paid direct to landlord, but be inside your Universal Credit benefit given to you.

WORKING TAX CREDITS AND UNIVERSAL CREDIT

Universal Credit is not just for people who are out of work.

If you’re getting tax credits or help with your rent, then you’ll be moved onto Universal Credit at some point between now and 2017.

PERMANENT SANCTIONS TO PART TIME WORKERS UNDER UNIVERSAL CREDIT

Permanent sanctions against part time workers, who fail to gain full time hours under UC by Hardship Payments becoming recoverable loans.

There are about 1 million of part time working poor, that include
    low income self employed.

you both might have to claim Universal Credit instead.

    NIL PENSION CREDIT

Those denied state pension payout since 2013, also lose Pension Credit.

Pension Credit (savings) is abolished for new claimaints retirement age on and from 6 April 2016.

From 2016 guarantee credit part of Pension Credit, becomes far more complex conditionality, even for current pensioners.

THE POOR NOW OUTNUMBER ALL OTHER VOTERS

Voting different on Thursday 7 May can bring new MPs that will actually challenge the big parties that are all saying the same thing about benefit, the disabled, the working poor, the pensioners denied state pension.

The poor have never had so much power than this election in UK history.

All the pundits predict the most severe hung parliament, which means none of the big parties will gain sufficient votes to rule as a SINGLE ONE PARTY government or even WITH TWO PARTIES IN PARTNERSHIP.

More parties are needed to make the government work, or we are doomed to have general elections every 6 months to ever decreasing voter turnout and a paralysed government keeping on being cruel to the poor, in or out of work, and of all ages.

See the different logos and party names on my personal website:

    http://www.anastasia-england.me.uk

There is a way to stop all this cruelty leading to penniless starvation for all ages, even babes in wombs of sanctioned mothers.
